At Oakford, student assessment is carried out through a comprehensive system designed to measure the key competencies that define full language proficiency. This approach covers eight essential areas for language learning and ensures that the student develops all the necessary skills to communicate fluently and with understanding in various contexts.

The 8 competencies we assess are:

Linguistic theory

This evaluates the knowledge and understanding of grammatical structures, vocabulary, and syntax, both in written and spoken contexts.

Listening comprehension

This assesses the ability to understand audio or conversations in the language, in both formal and informal situations, with different accents and speaking speeds

Reading comprehension

This measures the student’s ability to understand written texts, interpret their content, and extract relevant information.

Conversational interaction

This measures the ability to maintain a fluent conversation, demonstrating comprehension and the ability to respond appropriately in oral exchanges.

Oral expression

This assesses the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in spoken language, using correct pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.

Vocabulary and idiomatic expression

It evaluates the use and mastery of a wide and appropriate vocabulary, as well as knowledge of idiomatic expressions and common phrases.

Written expression

It measures the ability to write coherent and well-structured texts, demonstrating mastery of grammar, spelling, and clarity in written communication.

Vocabulary and Idiomatic Expression

It measures the ability to use digital tools (such as apps, online platforms, and multimedia resources) in the learning and use of the language, facilitating communication in digital environments.

Personalized level recognition

Upon completing your training at Oakford, you will receive a specific diploma that validates your level in the chosen language, following the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

With this diploma, which certifies your language level as A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2, you can add an official accreditation to your professional profile. Issued by a prestigious institution like Oakford, it will open up new opportunities in your career and studies.
